I think that most people are under the impression that MySpace is just a little website run by one guy named Tom. Wrong! Did you know that MySpace is owned by News Corporation? News Corp. is the same company that owns Fox News, FOX TV Network, DirecTV, and 20th Century FOX movie studio(to name a few). Myspace was made for advertisers to get your personal information, like your hobbies, marital status, number of children, your favorite color and much more, so that they can market products to you. Advertisers pay big bucks for this information for direct advertising.

Personally, I don't care much for Myspace, and I see it as a necessary evil, due to the fact that there are some people that use Myspace as their primary communication to their friends. Everything about MySpace is geared to drive more traffic to their site. Think, when you send someone a message, you get an email telling you that you have a message on MySpace. They could just forward you that message in the email, but they make you go back to the site to read it, along with 20 advertisements along the way.

So next time you post a survey about personal information, think about who is reading it. Don't be surprised when you get an email about new and improved boner pills!
