We have all heard the tales of the days when Van Halen required a bowl of M&M's at their concert venues. The story goes that if a member of Van Halen found a brown M&M in the bowl, they would refuse to play the concert. How could they be so vain? What kind of jerks are these guys? Well, there is a very good reason for no brown M&M's.

The reason is, if there were brown M&M's in the bowl backstage, it would be evidence that the promoter did not follow the contract details, and possibly other obligations of the contract were also not followed.

Its not like they asked for a large tube of KY jelly.  Or did they?
