I have never been a fan of Jay Leno on the Tonight Show, and have always preferred David Letterman. But the musical guests on the Tonight Show were always better. I found myself recording the Tonight Show, and forwarding through the show, and watching the musical act at the end of the show. Jay Leno's comedy always seemed a bit dumbed down to me.

I tried to watch Leno's final show in its entirety, but found myself forwarding through it again. For a final show, it seemed pretty lackluster and uninteresting. Leno seemed like he was defeated, having never really wanted to leave the show. He does have a prime time show coming up on NBC, but obviously he doesn't have much faith that the show will succeed. NBC offered him the show as a token for stepping down quietly.

Enter Conan. I did watch Conan's old show occasionally. I usually enjoyed it, as it was much edgier than the Tonight Show. Some of the skits were perhaps a bit too raunchy, but still funny. When Monday night's show started with the skit were he forgot he was supposed to be in LA, it was probably the best thing I have seen in late night in over a year. I found myself glued to the TV watching the entire show uninterrupted. Will Ferrell was usual funny self, and Pearl Jam gave a mediocre performance.( I couldn't understand a word Eddie Veder was singing.) The show also had additional skits, such as the Universal Studios Tour skit, which was classic.  I couldn't stop laughing during the 1992 Ford Taurus skit.   Overall, the show wins high marks from me, and I will be tuning in again tonight.
